I've just read this sad news about the death this morning of this great mountaineer, adventurer, and explorer. New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary together with his sherpa were the first known climbers to reach Mount Everest on May 29, 1953. Later on in life, he became a philanthropist and an environmentalist as well. His efforts came into fruition, as many schools and hospitals were built in the Himalayan region.
