Happy Centennial, UP!

I think everyone who had been/ is a part of UP share the same feeling that I feel: PROUD. The opening celebration war really, really great. It showcased the best of UP. Last Tuesday 10:30am, I was still having my class in KOM 1when members of STAND-UP went to the class to announce the forthcoming gathering of students from all UP units 2:30 that afternoon.

I was dying to go but alas, I had to attend some errands back home and rush a greeting email for my friend in Madrid. Damn. The reasons why I wasn't able to personally witness the the opening centennial celebration in all its glory and grandeur. Nagkasya na na lang ako sa tv news and internet pics. Pakshet. I should've been there. Ugh. Ayoko namang mapagalitan dahil sa di pag uwi ng maaga.

No. Actually I could go home from school anytime. Tanda ko na no. It was just on that particular day, January 8, my errands piled up that's why I had to dismiss my illusion of going there, even I was dying to.

But anyway, I've seen some pics and vidclips of the celebration. Ok na. I'm not that disappointed.

So there was this chopper from UP Manila tossing confetti from the sky above the cheering crowd. UP units of Los Banos, Pampanga and Baguio each showcased cultural performances with their respective contingents behind. And Ryan Cayabyab was at the concert. Philippine Madrigal Singers, UP Orchestra, UP Symphonic Band, and the UP Pep Squad also graced the event.

The concert ended with the singing of UP Naming Mahal, then followed by the 30-minute fireworks display. And boy...I saw the magnificent fireworks from home..hehe house's just near UP Diliman. Hanep ang fireworks..pang-pyrolympics.

Well, I could say that the organizers didn't disappoint us. I'm pretty sure they spent a lot for such grandiloquent celebration.

University of the Philippines once again reaffirmed its position in country's education: the best..and of course by giving the best. Full blast na ang celebrations umpisa pa lang!

Mabuhay ka Ka Oble!
